Library hosts indigenous art show

Aboriginal Art Directory | 14.07.10

IPSWICH'S indigenous artists have chosen a high-traffic area to give their work maximum exposure over the next four weeks.

The Ipswich library on South Street attracts a constant stream of local folk of all ages and cultures, so an exhibition around its walls will be seen by a good cross-section of art-lovers.

Four indigenous artists – Phillip Gardiner, Charmaine Davis, Debbie Scott and Dale Weston – have their work on show and for sale.

Prices range from $120 to $46,000 for works in their exhibition, titled In The Beginning.

Mr Weston said the four artists had held separate exhibitions, but had never come together to show their work.

..........

Opening night for In The Beginning is this Thursday, July 15, from 6pm to 7.30pm in the Barry Jones Auditorium, Ipswich Library on the corner of South and East streets. Supper and entertainment will be provided.

Bookings are essential and can be made on 3810 6768.
