The Age Patrick Hutchings
October 20, 2007

A new exhibition showcases the creativity of indigenous art, writes Patrick Hutchings.

Quoted from article:

The land wars were declared by the British a little after 1788; the culture wars more recently. A marvellous exhibition of 30 artists at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, addresses these culture wars and the world's oldest civilisation is asserting itself despite them.

As the exhibition's senior curator, Brenda Croft, says: "Forty years after the Referendum of 1967, look at an exhibition of here and now. Creativity continues to bloom like wildflowers. Everything here has been done in the last three years. There is no beginning, middle and end. The culture flourishes. And this exhibition for multiple viewers shows it."
