INDIGENOUS health care in the Territory will benefit when Aboriginal art is auctioned in Melbourne next week.
A new organisation, Ochre, backed by the business community and philanthropists, including Western Bulldogs president David Smorgon, will sell paintings by top indigenous artists.
The auction will be opened by a performance by ARIA winner Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu.
Proceeds, estimated at $250,000-plus, will go to the Darwin-based Menzies School of Health Research.
Smorgon's interest in Ochre was sparked by trips to Darwin with the Dogs.
