After years of planning and fund raising the construction of a swimming pool in Kintore has finally begun. In November of 2005, Papunya Tula Artists donated five significant works by senior male and female artists to be auctioned, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the pool fund. Papunya Tula Artists in partnership with Maningrida Arts and Culture, The Charlie Perkins Children's Trust and the Art Gallery of New South Wales, held an auction at the Art Gallery of New South Wales to raise much needed funds to establish swimming pools in the Maningrida and Walungurru (Kintore) communities.
