Culture Warriors, the National Indigenous Art Triennial, is on tour from the National Gallery of Australia with 90 works by 30 artists.

The free exhibition will be at the Art Gallery of South Australia until August 31.

Curator Brenda L. Croft says it is apt that the world's oldest surviving culture was finally being represented by a major survey of its art.

"It's about the past, present and future of the culture," she says. "No beginning, no middle, no end."

Artists from around Australia are represented with paintings, sculptures, textiles, weaving, new media, photographs, prints and installations.

"Big guns" include Jean Baptiste Apuatimi, Philip Gudthaykudthay, John Mawurndjul, Lofty Bardayal Nadjamerrek and Arthur Koo'ekka Pambegan Jr.
