Sights Unseen - Moving Pictures by Michael Riley

Aboriginal Art Directory | 22.12.08

Sights Unseen is a compelling story about the short but prolific life work of Aboriginal photographer, Michael Riley, his view on Aboriginal art and his determination to bring together a solid Aboriginal arts movement before passing away in 2004. Riley not only looked at the world through another lens he wanted the world to view what he saw and how he wanted Aboriginal art to be viewed. By revisiting his beautiful images and the breadth of his work spanning 20 years, this film will recognise and acknowledge Riley’s legacy. In part two Michael achieves success at home and abroad. His work is exhibited permanently in Paris at the new Musee de Qui Branly, he directs several highly acclaimed films and on the cusp of wide recognition he tragically dies from kidney disease.
