The Hard Road Antony Muia

Antony Muia’s art has always dealt with the hidden aspects of domestic life.

His ambiguous figures seem to be involved in sinister affairs or show unusual perspectives of family life - but the artist is never giving away the story. Antony loves the risk and edginess of drawing . He uses vibrant water colour washes, gold leaf, chalk, pencil, oil pastel and masking fluid to create his distinctive mixed media works .

Antony Muia has exhibited regularly in Perth and the Eastern States since 1990. His work is held in major public collections, including the Art Gallery of WA and private collections including the Kerry Stokes collection. In 2008 he was a finalist in the Dobell Prize for Drawing at the Art Gallery of NSW. The exhibition The Hard Road runs from March 14 to April 4 2009 at Brigitte Braun Gallery, 4 White Street, Windsor and can be seen Wednesday – Saturday from 1 – 4pm and by appointment as well as on on www.artplace.com.au
