The South Australian Museum in association with Ananguku Arts and Culture Aboriginal Corporation proudly invites you to the opening of Tjukurpa Pulkatjara – the Power of the Law.

The 50th Adelaide Festival includes a benchmark exhibition from the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara Lands.

Aboriginal artists from the tri-state region into the far north west of South Australia are at the heart of the contemporary Indigenous art movement.

The exhibition celebrates the work of artists who live and paint close to the Tjukurpa in their own country, at community based art centres. The exhibition underlines the importance of provenance and ethical acquisition of works.

Artists will be present to speak to their work.

This exhibition features works of senior artists Jimmy Baker, Maringka Baker, Wingu Tingima, Tommy Mitchell, Tjapartji Bates, Carol Maayatja Golding, Myra Yurtiwa Cook, Harry Tjutjuna, Tiger Palpatja, Ruby Williamson, Dickie Minyintiri and other senior men and women whose work is held in major private and public, national and international collections, as well as new works by emerging artists.

The South Australian Museum, renowned for its extensive collection of Indigenous cultural artefacts including work from this region, is a fitting venue for this exhibition.
