Watercolour Workshop Saturday 2nd October from 10am - 12pm
Birrung Gallery is delighted to present Namatjira: The Next Generation, an exhibition of contemporary watercolours by third generation watercolour artists working with Ngurratjuta Iltja Ntjarra 'Many Hands' Art Centre in Alice Springs, who are grandchildren and descendants of the late Albert Namatjira and his contemporaries. The exhibition coincides with the launch of the Namatjira season at Belvoir Street Theatre, a Big hART production. The Namatjira Project celebrates the life of the late Albert Namatjira, and continues his legacy through ongoing creative community development projects with Ngurratjuta artists. The exhibition and theatre production are the culmination of the project, and will feature spectacular Central Desert landscapes - the artists' country and that which Albert used to paint.
A watercolour painting workshop will be held on Saturday 2nd October from 10am - 12pm. Guests are invited to sit, paint and learn techniques from the watercolour experts, in a quiet, focussed and friendly environment. Places are very limited - please contact the gallery to register.
Please visit our website to view the works, and if you would like to preview works please call the gallery.
